Should medicine be taught at IITs?

Posted by drgspatnaik on February 20, 2010 at 10:07 PM

It is strange that a debate like this comes up at this stage . Of course it should have been taught by planners about few decades back . infact medicine and engineering had been placed at loggerheads instead of complimenting eacxh other .If doctors can learn the corporate intellect and the engineers learn the human touch in their deliberations things would turn out tro be much better . I guess planners would do a great deal of favour by trying to device new methods to streamline education in India as a whole and medicine and engineering are just subjects in the entire cogwhel of learning .

i think it is a very good thought . if you reflect, the latest Nobel Laurette Dr Venkatraman Ramakrishnan is a Ph D in physics then studied biology and won the Nobel for chemistry. i think we should not let our thoughts be bound by manmade subjects instead we should expose the kids to all scientific environment and let the thoughts decide where our interests lie.
